Emerging Professional: $210

Qualifications: A landscape designer who engages in the practice of landscape design for monetary compensation and has less than 3 years of professional landscape design experience. Documentation of education and experience is not required. Emerging Professional membership is limited to five years.

Chapter membership in your geographic region is included in your total dues amount ($210). If you do not have a geographic chapter, you will receive membership in APLD’s virtual chapter. If you wish to join additional chapters, you can do so at a fee of $80 per chapter.

APLD Geographic Chapters: Arizona, California (Districts: Bay Area, Greater Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego), DC-MD-VA, Oregon and Washington
Members must strive to adhere to APLD’s Standards of Practice.

Professional: $470

Qualifications: A landscape designer who engages in the practice of landscape design for monetary compensation and has more than 3 years of professional landscape design experience. Documentation of education and experience is not required..

Members must strive to adhere to APLD’s Standards of Practice.
Education Requirement(s): Associate Degree (or higher) in landscape design-based education from an accredited institution or attendance in landscape design classes or seminars.

Landscape Design Enthusiast: $225

Those individuals practicing in related and/or associated fields: ornamental horticulture, public and private garden/estate management, garden writing/publishing/photography, architecture, interior design, lighting design, and green industry suppliers such as growers, nurseries, stoneyards, landscape contractors, etc. This category is not for practicing landscape designers who would fall under the Emerging Professional or Professional categories, part-time landscape designers, or landscape architects, but would be open to design enthusiasts including master gardeners. Companies qualifying as a sponsor and looking to solicit members for services are not permitted. There are no restrictions or educational requirements to join.

Educator: $75

Qualifications: A professional landscape design educator/teacher who is not practicing as a landscape designer.
Chapter membership in your geographic region is included in your total dues amount ($225). If you do not have a geographic chapter, you will receive membership in APLD’s virtual chapter. If you wish to join additional chapters, you can do so at a fee of $80 per chapter.

Requirements: Must submit proof of employment (i.e. faculty/staff ID)

Student: $65

Qualifications: Student members must be actively enrolled in a landscape design, landscape architecture, or horticulture program. A student member may not practice landscape design unless it is part of a student internship related to their design program.

Chapter membership in your geographic region is included in your total dues amount ($65). If you do not have a geographic chapter, you will receive membership in APLD’s virtual chapter. If you wish to join additional chapters, you can do so at a fee of $10 per chapter.

APLD Geographic Chapters: Arizona, California (Districts: Bay Area, Greater Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego), DC-MD-VA, Oregon and Washington
Requirements: Student members must provide proof of enrollment (i.e. transcript) yearly in a degreed or certificate program from an accredited institution related to landscape design. Student membership is limited to five years.

Retired Member: $90

Qualifications: Must be a current member of APLD who attests to the fact they are fully retired from the practice of landscape design and has no intention of returning to the practice, or they will notify APLD immediately and reinstate active member status if returning to the profession. An application is available in the members’ only section of the website under member documents or by contacting APLD headquarters.
Chapter membership is optional for retired members. If a retired member wishes to join a chapter, they can do so for a fee of $80 per chapter.
